I. Title: Doon Po Sa Amin…Guso Feeds Some Hungry Mouths

II. Introduction:

Doon po sa amin sa Sibunag, we have limited livelihood resources. Not a good number of people are professionals. Many folks rely on the bounty of the land and the sea.

There are people who own hectares of land but most of these pieces of land are rain fed. Usually, people have only two cropping per year but the second cropping usually do not yield best results.

Most of the people near the shorelines get their bread and butter from the sea using fish nets and hooks. But as expected, some go home empty handed. Of course, how can one be so sure to hook a fish everyday?

Planting Guso or seaweeds on the seashore is the answer the economic problem of these fisher folks. With the help of the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Sibunag, many of them have acquired guso seedlings  and capital. With their hard work in caring these seedlings, some of them are earning more than 30, 000.00 every 3 three months. “A sure source of living”, they proudly say.
